Termite Management & Inspections
Full inspections under AS 3660.1 and AS 3660.2. We use thermal imaging and moisture metering across the main home, outbuildings, sheds, and timber retaining structures.
Walk the back fence line of most Dural properties and you will find the first sign before you ever reach the house: a sleeper retaining wall gone soft, a timber post that crumbles under a thumbnail, or mud galleries threading up the inside of an old paling fence. On a quarter-acre block in the inner suburbs that is a nuisance. Out here, on five acres backing onto eucalyptus bushland, it is the early warning that a subterranean colony has already found your boundary and is working its way in.
That is the reality of pest control in Dural. The bushland that makes the suburb worth living in is also the single biggest pest reservoir in the Hills District. Termites, roof rats, funnel-webs and European wasps do not recognise property lines. They move from the reserve, the gully and the dam edge straight onto your land, and on a large block they have a long run-up before anyone notices. We treat properties across Dural and the surrounding 2158 acreage, and almost every job here starts with the same question: how close is the bush, and how long has it been since anyone looked properly?

Dural treatments start from $149 for a single-pest treatment, with general pest packages between $350 and $600, with acreage properties quoted on land size. Tree cover and stables raise rodent and termite pressure here, and termite inspections to AS 3660.2 run $250 to $400. Same-day callouts are available across Dural and Galston.

Dural sits 36km north-west of the Sydney CBD, straddling Hornsby Shire and The Hills Shire. Block sizes run from suburban 700-square-metre lots in Round Corner up to genuine five-acre holdings near Galston Gorge and Middle Dural. Around 80 per cent of dwellings are separate houses, most with four or more bedrooms, and a good share of them sit on land that has not been fully cleared since it was orchard or hobby-farm country.
The combination of mature trees, leaf litter, dam moisture and large timber-heavy homes is exactly what drives termite activity in the Hills District. The bushland fringe along the Berowra Valley and the Great North Track is prime habitat for Coptotermes acinaciformis, the species responsible for the majority of structural termite damage in this country. You also see Schedorhinotermes intermedius working through stumps and subfloor timber, and Nasutitermes walkeri, the tree-nesting species that chews through fences, decking and garden sleepers long before it ever touches the house. Most inner-city suburbs deal with one termite pressure point. A Dural acreage deals with three, coming from every boundary at once.
The same bushland brings the rest of the cast. Roof rats nest in large roof cavities and feed off fruit trees, poultry pens and feed stores. The Hills District is core Sydney funnel-web territory, and the wetter months push spiders out of garden beds and sandstone walls into garages and laundries. European wasps build nests through summer near dams and woodpiles, presenting severe safety risks, while protected brushtail possums treat older roof voids like a five-star hotel.
Every service here is framed around the block, not just the building. A standard suburban treatment plan does not cut it when there is a barn, a stable and 200 metres of timber fencing in play.

Crucial reports for anyone buying acreage in Dural. A missed colony can mean six figures in concealed structural damage. We inspect all dwellings and outbuildings.
Rodent management built around the semi-rural food sources that keep roof rats and mice coming back. We seal entry points in sheds, barns, and feed stores.
We establish a solid residual barrier focused on funnel-web, redback, and white-tail harbourage points in garden rockeries, garages, and foundations.
Destruction and removal of European wasp nests. We handle aggressive seasonal swarms safely near water tanks, woodpiles, and play areas.
Exclusion and roof proofing within the strict limits of NSW wildlife laws. We install one-way doors and seal gaps to exclude them, and can supply local nest boxes.
Learn about Dural possum removalHere is a scenario that plays out across the suburb more often than people would like. A family on a couple of acres near Kenthurst Road calls us about ants in the kitchen. Routine. While our technician is checking the perimeter, he taps the architraves around a north-facing window and the sound goes hollow. Behind the plaster, Coptotermes workers have run a mud lead up from a stump 15 metres into the bush, crossed a garden bed, and entered through a slab penetration where a pipe passes through the foundation. The ants were never the real story.
On acreage this is the rule, not the exception. The colony nest often sits well off the house, inside a living gum or an old stump, and the workers commute. By the time there is anything visible inside, the damage in the wall cavity has been quietly building for months.
The treatment in a case like this is not a quick chemical spray. We execute a full strategy to secure the building:
For most of Sydney, an annual termite inspection is sound advice. Dural is not most of Sydney. Australian Standards flag bushland-adjacent properties as a higher-risk category, and on acreage with direct reserve frontage we recommend inspections every six months without hedging. A colony can establish and do meaningful damage inside a single year, and the bigger the block, the more entry points there are to miss. The cost of a six-monthly inspection is rounding error next to the cost of replacing termite-eaten structural timber in a four-bedroom home.
If your property backs onto the Great North Track, the Berowra Valley bushland, or any of the gully reserves through Middle Dural, treat six-monthly as the baseline, not the cautious option.
Dural is an affluent area, but acreage pricing does not work on a flat city rate, and we will not pretend it does. The size of the block and the number of structures drive the quote.

The technician on your Dural job holds a current NSW Pest Management Technician licence issued under SafeWork NSW, and our business carries full public liability insurance. We work across the Hills District, follow the codes of practice of the Australian Environmental Pest Managers Association (AEPMA), and we are a real local operator, not a lead-generation site selling your details to whoever is cheapest that week.
We service Dural and the adjacent acreage and bushland suburbs across the 2158 area and beyond. If your property sits on the bushland fringe in any of these, the termite advice above applies to you.
